About Mary Jo

As a former teacher, I have a degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am also a CNA. I have been a caregiver for several people in the last few years and I have enjoyed the experience of getting to know my clients and their families. I enjoyed helping them to live more independent lives at home. I also took care of my parents in the past on a part-time basis for 20 years. My father had experienced several strokes and my mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The time I spent caring for my parents was special and precious to me because I was able to help them live happily and meaningfully during a time that could have otherwise been very difficult. My sense of humor helped both of my parents feel at ease. I am proud of the way I was able to work with my mother's doctor and the safety measures I put into place to help her. In addition to caring for my parents, I have also cared for other men and women in my area. It has been a pleasure getting to know the men, women, and families I have worked with as a caregiver. I treat everyone as a unique person and enjoy getting to know them. Feeling a CONNECTION and having a GENUINE RELATIONSHIP with a caretaker is extremely important in our world where loneliness can be a serious problem. One of my biggest strengths is being able to relate to my clients and have wonderful conversations. My goal is to help everyone I care for live their life to the fullest in a safe and happy manner. It is an honor and a privilege to care for my clients. I will provide references from families upon request.

I am compassionate and caring. I have learned to listen and read eye and body movement from clients. I took care of one client that didn't have any family and the reward of keeping her company and making her comfortable made me happy as well as the client. The smiles on their faces and there family faces of relief is enough for me. The case that i'm proud of is that one client had surgery on both her knees and couldn't walk her dog that was sick as well with digestive problems. He had to be walked several times a day and she said he waits for me at the door every morning. He normally always stays by her side. She said he has never done that before and that he must really like and sense the care and love in me. That made my mornings seeing him sitting by the front door.
