I became a caregiver because my mother has been a caregiver all of my life. Therefore, it was instilled in me the importance of caring for others that could not do it for themselves. I was taught humility, patience, being kind, reliable, compassionate, empathetic, trustworthy, and being transparent to other people needs. Using all of these traits, I have developed a passion for being a caregiver. I love meeting new people and learning from them. I also love the companionships and relationships that are built. The relationships allow the perfect opportunity for personal growth. I have cared for individuals with mental and physical disabilities for the past 2 years. It has been the most rewarding experience of my life. During this time, I was able to witness experiences of a lifetime with them. Attending festivals, shopping, concerts, dinner and movie outings, and events became the highlight of my life and the source of my greatest achievement. They even surprised me at my college graduation! I have established life-long relationships while being a caregiver.
