
I became a caregiver at first because I came from a family of caregivers. My grandmother was a caregiver and my mother was a caregiver and it seem that that was the route to go. In the beginig it was a bit overwhelming and I could not see why anyone would choose such a field. The work was hard, peole were mean and it seemed like a thankless job. Often in the begining I did not feel I was up to the task and found my self going back and for doing other job in different fields. But, ever so often when work was slow I could always find a job as an assistant. As I became an experienced assistant, my understanding of being an aide began to change. There was more to the job than just showing up to work and picking up a pay check. Not everyone is cut out to be a CNA. People come to rely on you and sometimes the little things that we take for granted everyday, clients very lively hood could depend on some of the simple task you perform for them that day. I like being a caregiver because I like being around people. Caring for people is a challenge at times but being in the field for such a long time I have come to know what to expect. My personal achievement that I am most proud of is the work that I do for and with my clients. I am a good worker and I put pride in my work.
