I decided to become a caregiver because it is such a rewarding job to be able to help others in need. Creating connections while being able to brighten someone's day through the simplest actions is a reward in itself. Working as a caregiver provides satisfaction to both the caregiver and the person receiving the care which portrays the importance of the job. As I have had previous experience working in a nursing home, I felt as though I had 40 friends around be instead of residents to take care of. As I went off to college I kept in touch with many of the residents through written letters and phone calls. I claim that experience an accomplishment because I was able to create a friendly relationship rather than job acquaintances. I graduated in 2014 from Mason City High School in northern Iowa with a 3.89 GPA. I was part of the national honor society, silver chord volunteer program, homecoming court, gymnastics, and best buddies program. I am now a freshman at the University of St. Thomas with a major in biology. I will be living up in St. Paul over the summer and would love to work as a CNA! I also will be volunteering throughout the week and The Children's Hospital and Clinics of MN.
