What makes me a great caregiver is that I empathize with the individual I am taking care of and I do my best to make sure they receive the care and companionship they need with love and respect. I am caring, kind, fun to be around and most importantly I take my caregiving work seriously. I enjoy seeing the joy I bring to the people I care for and to see them having a good comfortable life despite their situation. My personal achievement that I am proud of was to see a great change in the individuals I have worked with. For example, I have been able to assist an individual who was thought not capable of doing anything for himself, learn to dress himself and use the restroom instead of soiling himself. Helping another individual learn to cook simple meals. I enjoy to see the happy smiles of my individuals whenever they achieve a goal, happy smiles when they feel well taken care of and safe. I also like to engage the individuals with fun activities depending on their abilities and what they enjoy to do.

I take care of an individual who works , I pick the individual from work and assist with transportation, cooking and cleaning and administering medication. I assist transporting the individual to the store to do grocery shopping and for rides wherever the individual wants to go. I assist the individual to do laundry by guiding and explaining what the individual can do. I provide company and do fun things with the individual like watching movies together, dancing and reading books. I take the individuals' vitals according to the individuals' MAR.

I work as an awake overnight staff. My role is to make sure all the individuals are present. I check if they are alright and comfortable. I keep checking on them through the night and assist any that might need assistance. I wake them at 7 am and assist them with their morning showers , shave and dress them. I make their beds and start their laundry. I clean their bathrooms. I administer their morning medication and write notes in Therap of what happened during my shift. I leave work after I brief the incoming staff and if there is any concerns, I let the incoming staff know to keep a close eye on the issues.
