What makes me a great caregiver is that I am a patient myself. I understand first hand what its like to be on the other side of being cared for. I understand that many days can be hard and that a caregiver needs to be compassionate first. I have been a dialysis patient for the last 10 years, and have suffered a stroke myself along with a failed kidney transplant, and awaiting another. But from first look you could never tell.
