About Teri

My name is Teri Betz. I live in the north valley area of Helena. I am married and have several furry creatures residing with me. I started in care giving while working at Opportunity resources as a case manager for developmentally delayed adults. My mother-in-law, who was 100 moved in with my husband and myself and needed 24/7 assistance. I was med certified and developed a medication list that we and respite providers could follow, My mother-in-law, Tish, needed personal care with bathing, skin and hair care, medication, dressing, laundry, toileting, food assistance and diet planning. she needed to be monitored for falls. She was also developing dementia and had "sundowners". Tish was a wonderful, gracious lady and a privlege to care for. My husband and I were very sad when she passed away at 101 years old. It was through caring for Tish that I found my calling in caregiving. shortly after my job ended at Opportunity Resources, I began working with Home Instead. I had two clients there and both were delightful! Care give ceased during covid. I currently have one client now for several hours one day a week. I enjoy caregiving. I enjoy working with elderly! and I especially enjoy hearing my client's life stories.

Full time special education teacher for children and adolescents with learning disabilities, emotional disturbances and developmental delays. Grades taught include kindergarten through high school. Responsibilities include: academic assessment of incoming patients, writing education evaluations, developing Individual Education Plans for all new students and contacting, coordinating and attending IEP and Exit Review conferences with parents, therapists, and school personal. Set up appropriate learning situations for each grade level and modify programs based on the students' individual needs. Established positive and effective classroom management system. Attend daily in-house meetings with therapists, psychiatrist, education director and nursing staff and attend BI-weekly treatment team reviews for patients, coordinate transitional meetings for discharging patients.

Maintained a case load of 30-34 adults Assisted these consumers in locating work, housing, medical care, training and financial assistance. Ensured that individuals, who are qualified for assistance through Developmental Disabilities Program waiver, receive services. Developed Personal Support Plan in order to provide medical, social, educational and vocational as well as other services. Monitored consumers at home, work and in the community; met and coordinated services with many interdisciplinary groups and providers as needed to ensure that consumer's goals were being met and any upcoming/ongoing issues were being addressed and resolved. Thereby assisting consumers in achieving their maximum level of independent functioning in all environments.

Primary focus is to assist clients to live interdependently in the community. Job responsibilities include completing transition requirements for adolescents moving from children's services to adult services, information gathering including; individual, ecological, support needs and community assessments, participating in Personal Support Plans with the client, service providers, case manager, and program manager. Developing Outcomes and Actions for clients and set up Action Plans. Determine supervision needs for clients and development of a schedule to meet those needs. Hire, train, supervise and meet regularly with Direct Support staff, monitoring of cost plan expenditures. Attend in-services, conferences, agency meetings and participating in determining and implementing annual objectives for Family Outreach.
