I became a caregiver because I did not want to work in main stream Healthcare anymore. My passion is helping seniors the way they and their family's want to be cared for without Healthcare systems making the choices for their care. I worked as a physical therapy assistant for 27 years. The last 8 were in a rehabilitation department at a skilled nursing facility. I have enjoyed the last 9 years doing private home care as a caregiver. Helping individuals live their lives with dignity, safety and loving care.

After being in the veterinary field for 20 years, I've gained a level of comfortability with all things clinical and medical. I adore the elderly and have experience with Alzheimer patients and those with dementia. I am an extremely patient, and caring individual. I have always wanted to work in the health care field since I was a kid. I truly enjoy helping other people, and being able to make a difference in their lives. I always put myself in their shoes, so I can try to see how they feel in certain situations. I take care of my clients the way I would want someone else to take care of my family members. I love being able to take clients out of the house, even if it's just for a short walk or drive around town. I feel it's important for them to keep their independence for as long as they can. I can't imagine doing anything else for a career. I take my job seriously, but have a fun, bubbly, outgoing personality.

I first started caregiving when I was 17. My first job was for glorias helping hands. At first i wasnt sure about how i felt about the type of work. I didnt have much experience as to what i was doing. I took some classes and got my rcs1 and crma first. Rcs1 is a residential care specialist and a CRMA is a certified residential medical assistant. As i learned more and worked more I realized that is was my passion to help others who may need some assistance in things they can no longer do. Honestly u really do have to have a passion for this type of work because u never know what could happen or what situation u may end up in. And some of the disabilities, and some health issues can be challenging. Ive been very lucky to continue and have worked and learned various disabilities, as well as illnesses. Today i have my rcs1, pss,cna, and also insulin certified, cpr certified, and first aid certified. I love knowing that I'm making a difference and im helping and am there for someone who needs some support and help in their life.

It is in my DNA to help. It is what I do best & where I am most content. It is my joy to give others joy in what ever way that is for the individual. I find it a challenge & a blessing to work with a person who may be considered a challenge to work with, & with some good listening skills & some T.L.C. get that person to relax & not be so demanding. A little about me. I have two hobbies that keep me grounded & contribute to my personal & professional life. One is photography, I do mostly nature & wild life, which teaches me patience & being still to listen. Second, refinishing/painting furniture. This allows my creative nature to open & flow, think out side the box. Take something old, dull, maybe not so interesting & bring it back to life , new , bright & fresh. I've been an LNA for four years now and I am working towards getting my RN at Great Bay as well. I have a five year old daughter and I am looking for first or third shift during the week so I can still see her when she gets out of school. On the weekends, I am able to work anytime

1. i want to be able to help people/kids in need, want them to know someone is always there for them and to care, like them to feel safe, and well taken care of 2. like getting to know each patient, learning about them. like learning about different disabilities or diseases they carry and how it works,etc 3. proud of getting my certification and getting out there right away in the field, also in nursing school now so proud myself im doing that. 4. i was in and out hospitals as a child so i know what its like to have nurse to depend on and make u feel comfortable and safe and thats what i want my patients to feel like when im taking care of them, that they can count on me if they need talk or if something is wrong
