Hello! My name is Kim. I have been a caregiver for 30 years, having taken off time while my daughter was in high school. I have an extensive amount of experience ranging from cancers to dementias to end of life and so much more. I would be happy to share. I am also an advocate, friend and offer support for both the patient and family. The expectations and standards I set for myself are: 1) Dignity and respect 2) When I walk into someone's home, I'm walking into their world. I dont expect them to walk into mine. Its about them and their needs. 3) Everyone is an individual. Same diagnosis does not mean the same kind of care. My care is based on the individual and their wants and needs. 4) Patience and being a great listener. How else will I know what is needed and wanted. I have provided care for many people. I became a caregiver when I realized how much I loved assisting and helping elderly, as I do my own grandparents. I started out first with a private patient, a retired Firefighter, whom I acquired thru a family friend and became his full time CG! Once my job was longer needed I knew I had to get certified and back into the field, and that's where I found my first agency to work for. My greatest personality trait would have to be my smile and willingness to be an open ear to my patients. One of my personal achievements that I am proud of gaining along with being a certified HHA is graduating with my associates degree. I have to say what I enjoy the most being in the field is knowing I made a difference in my patient's or their families lives.
