Hello everyone my name is Kaneisha. I'm a very outgoing person, bubbly and love to meet new people. What makes me a a great caregiver is that I have compassion and empathy. I could always make someone feel very comfortable that's one of my specialties. As a child I always stepped up and helped my mother with my younger sister. Knowing that a little help could go a long way when someone is in need attracted me to continue to be a caregiver. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is meeting new people, learning about them, and giving them the satisfaction that I am there to help them. Hello! I started out as a certified nurse aide in the year 1999. I decided to help care for people when helping care for my great grandmother. It felt great to be able to be there for someone in their time of need. I have since cared for so many different types of ailments, diseases and people who need general household help. I've ran errands, did light cleaning, fed, bathed, assisted with walking. Cooked meals, taken them to appointments, also sat as a companion. I've helped others go through hospice care, cancer care, Parkinsons, dementia, alzheimers, sundowners, after surgery care, wound care, broken body parts, stiff body parts...lots of different things. I've been helping the elderly population for 24 years now. I enjoy being there, listening/talking with them, going out to lunch or shopping. Staying in doing puzzles or watching old westerns or just simply being there for them in any way I can. I've spent time with others on holidays as well. It's interesting to spend time with people and hear their life stories of "how it used to be" or to see how town was in the 40's or 50's or back when there was horse & buggy rides to school...enjoy it all. I like to spend my time with my grandbabies also doing crafts or watching my favorite series. Family is everything to me, we all try to be there and help each other as much as we can. My name is Destini, I have been a home health aide/attendant for 5 years. I'm certified by new york department of health. I've been working with patients since I was 15. I went to a medical high school ; Clara Barton and through there I started to volunteer and work at nursing homes and private cases because I love helping people. I believe my best qualities as a home health aide are, I treat my patients and their families the same way that I would want another caregiver to treat my family if they needed assistance. I am compassionate and I empathize with the people I assist. I have kind heart and I'm efficient in the tasks I have to do with my patient. I have a lot of energy and pay close attention to my patient. I do grocery shopping can cook meals and make a meal plan specifically for their nutritional needs based on their health. I do housekeeping, scheduling appointments for activities, program and doctors. The most rewarding experience I had in this field is just hearing a patient say thank you. Those two words have a lot of meaning to me, it makes me know I'm doing my job right. I don't plan on stopping here in the health field, I am going to school for a degree in registered nursing. I believe a caregiver should be someone that the patient can trust undoubtedly, and be able to bond with. After all we spend so much time with someone in their home everyone needs to be comfortable. I don't just see caring for people as a service but an honor. To be able to get to know someone's life, likes, dislikes and story all make this type of work extremely rewarding. **Will be available full time any hours after May first. Until then times will need to be set up in advance. My other job is 2-10 pm.

I have been a care giver since 2008. I became interested in being a caregiver when my grandmother needed care. She is what drove me in my career. I cannot picture doing anything else as this is what brings me joy. The ability to keep our elderly at home for as long as possible and make sure their needs are met above and beyond is what I strive for.
