I've been a caregiver for over 10 years

I have been an STNA/caregiver for 19 years! I have cared for patients in nursing facilities, hospitals, and their homes. I lead with love and enjoy serving seniors in any way that they may need.

I am an energetic and positive caregiver! My first patient was my grandmother who was a patient of cancer for 20 years. Since then, I wanted to be able to help loved ones be comfortable in their own home where they can enjoy alot of the same things they always have. I have a passion to care for those in need. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the lessons learned by your patients and hearing the stories that make up their past!

I feel that I am a great caregiver because I am patient, understanding, a great listener, compassionate, and very caring. I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated. I am a positive person, I love to smile, and laugh. I am also trustworthy, supportive, and encouraging. When I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer (Stage 5) 6 years ago, my one and only Caregiver by the name of Barbara, was the absolute best. She took very good care of me, and was such a joy to have around. One day I told her that when I get better, I was going to become a Caregiver too because she was such an inspiration and blessing to me and my family. I am a natural born nurturer, and I love taking care of people. It gives me such a fulfillment in my spirit to know that I did something that day to make someone's life a little easier. I am proud of the fact that I was able to complete my courses to become a Certified Nurses Assistant 2 years ago, and I plan to go back to become State Tested to enhance my skills and knowledge in this particular field.

I help seniors cope with their condition while maximizing their capabilities I can help meet a variety of care needs related to Alzheimer's disease, dementia, arthritis, Parkinson's, diabetes, depression, and other conditions. Here are some basic caregiver job responsibilities: Change linens and make beds Prepare and plan meals (including clean-up) Help with walking and light exercise Plan ahead for future meals, check expiration dates on food Do laundry (may include light ironing) Light housekeeping duties (such as vacuuming and dusting) Assist with dressing, grooming and bathing Take out the trash Run small errands (pick up prescriptions, go to the bank, etc.) Remind when to take medications Engage in mental and physical exercises Escort to appointments (doctor, physical therapy, hair salon, etc.) Organize mail and maintain a schedule/calendar Escort to religious services Engage in regular activities (talking, games, etc.) Provide companionship Record daily care notes Make note of any significant changes in the client to the agency/service

I have been a direct care specialist for 16 years working with clients from ages 21 and up. I am CPR certified and have experience in emergency situations. I can provide all daily living care needs and can provide overnight care if needed.

I love making a difference in people's lives. I have been in medical field for over 25yrs.

I grew up an a family of EMT/Firefighters/Caregivers, so it was pretty much in my blood so to speak. I enjoy helping others. I enjoy being able to help others with things that are difficult now for them to do, and the smile it brings to their face, it gives me a sense of comfort knowing I made their day better. A personal achievement I am proud of is that I am currently working FT, going to school, and am the mom of a 4 year old little boy, and have maintained fantastic grades, and made the deans list. I enjoy keeping myself busy, spending time with my family, and getting to know new people, especially the families of the people I take care of.

I started babysitting 13 years ago. I've had kids between newborn to 12 years old. I've also worked in assisted living and have experience with dementia and Alzheimer's. I also have experience with autism. I love taking care of peolle, no matter the age.
