My name is Shantell. I am a proud mother of three wonderful adult children and blessed with three amazing grandchildren. I have been working in health care since a young age, starting off being a health care aide for my blind grandmother at the tender age of 8 years old. From there on I found my passion in life. During my years as working as a personal care aide, I had the opportunity to take care of my parents during their last days. In doing so, I was able to gain a personal insight on the importance of having the right person taking care of your loved ones, which gave me an even greater passion for the work I do. I realized the importance of giving each and every person who I take care of the same love and care as I gave my loved ones while taking care of them. As well as the respect and honor to have the opportunity to be a part of their life.

I really love helping the elderly listening to their past experience been able to help them with their daily task also to learn more about the way the world was in their time and how the world is now.

I have been an emergency technician for the past 26 years. I took care of a vast array of patients including many who were in critical condition. I recently left the ER to be the caretaker for a husband and wife. I am responsible for bathing, cooking, grocery shopping, medication distribution, and household cleaning. Its a joy being able to help keep them out of a nursing home. The wife has end stage COPD and the husband has Parkinsons. I am especially proud that because of my efforts they are still living at home. The relationship I have built with them has been well worth it too. The husband has even given me the nickname Christmas because he looks forward to seeing me every morning.

I enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of the persons I serve. I understand what is needed too be a excellent caregiver too the persons I serve. I have 25 years experience working in Home Care and also Directed Care in group home setting. I recognize the need for discretion, tact, patience and good judgement. I'm committed too go above and beyond too deliver the outstanding quality of care that is deserved.

I provide quality care for my clients and service coordination. I step in when family can't. I love my work and what I can provide for the community. Not only do I have the experience I have the education as well.

In my current position of individual caregiver to a quadriplegic patient I assist my client with daily living activities such as getting out of bed toileting showering getting dressed and other duties as needed. I originally became interested in the health care field at a very early age because my aunt was a nurse and I spent considerable time in my childhood observing her at work. Which made me patient, dependable, confident, attentive, supportive, compassionate, trustworthy, creative & a great communicator. I was attracted to the idea of just helping people all at around. Although I had no thought about any specific specialty. However, in time Care giving became the logical focus of my attention for a number of reasons. For one, I have memories from a very young age of my grandfather getting too Sick to go outside needing assistance with his basic needs. My Grandmother as well. I will never forget being so young and not being able to help. Now that Im able to provide the assistance I strive to be the best Caregiver there is!

What helps me be a great caregiver is being kind and helpful respectful and patient. What attracted me to being a caregiver is being able to help And comfort individuals in need.
