I have about 32 years of experience being a caregiver. I use to own my own Caregiver agency but, it took me away from providing personal care to my clients, I decided to give that up so I could work closer with the client. I've provided care for individuals with MS. I currently work part time for the State of Washington as a certified Care Giver & I have a couple of part time clients . I feel & have been told I'm a great caregiver because I think of others first, filling the needs of others before myself. I think the best way to be a affective caregiver is to really have consideration for the fact that, it could sometimes be Very humiliating having someone to provide care for you & to treat others as you want to be treated. I always talk to my clients and helping them to see that I do understand how it feels to be able to once have done things for yourself and now to have to rely on someone else. I also forgot to mention that I have a daughter who lives with me, she's now 30 and she's been on dialysis for about 10 years and so I have quite a bit of experience in the medical field. I was also certified as a CNA for about 20 years I am not currently certified but, have loads of experience working with the elderly, I've worked on my own, in nursing homes & hospitals. I've worked for the State of California in a Veterans home for about 10 years just prior to me coming to Seattle. I've been in Seattle for 14 years.
Put a smile on an elderly' face and being there to meet his or her day-to-day needs make me a great caregiver. I always take the full responsible for the care and well-being of others. I mainly went into this field because I'm known to my family and friends as a person with a very sensitivity nature and my giving nature and nurturing desire to help those in need. One of the best qualities I that I possesses, is a sense of empathy for those that I am being cared for is my one of my reasons of being a caregiver and caring for the needed people will also prepare me for my future goal as a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA). In addition to that, I also entails the full responsibility such as bathing, dressing, feeding and overseeing the safety and emotional needs of their feeling. I always wanted to work in the healthcare field especially after working with a family friend in my home state of California for two years. I have also been very fascinated with the power of Science especially human biology and Psychology in Human Behavior because I am always fascinated as to how the human’s body and minds works and why people behave in certain way and do the things that they do. Also, become a caregiver is my way of giving back to those in needs and those who have been there for me and I felt that I can be a part of medicine by helping the needed people. Deciding to go back to school has been something I have always being proud of because I sincerely believe that for one to achieve something in this life, he or she must have self-determination, self-assessment, self-motivation, and self-willingness. But most importantly to achieve in this life, a person must have guts. It always seems impossible until it’s done. Nelson Mandela.
