I have the calm and quiet type of demeanor and have been told on several occasions that my voice is very calming. Basically, I get along with everyone. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is that it's my calling and what I'm passionate about. It comes very naturally for me after being in this profession for over 30 years. What I enjoy about caregiving is how it makes the person I'm caring for feel. My heart is full when they feel like I've done a job well and that's my intention. I love when my clients request me! hello, my name is Beatriz. I have been caring for 3 years now, I started off as a dietary aide, making meals for the residents in a facility. I then started my caring position after that and been doing in home caring and been a caregiver in facilities as well. I was working through agency so I would work in home and facilities at the same time. I am a very caring loving person, I always love to meet new people and get to know them. I do have a very strong heart and especially with my elders. I have token care of my grandpa for a while when I was growing up with my sibling and that is how I decided to become a full time caregiver for others as well. I started my caregiving career at the age of 12 when I started volunteering at a local nursing home. At the age of 19, I took the 120-hour course and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am still listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry under my maiden name; however, I have not followed up with continuing education, so I can only perform these duties in a non-federal facility or home. I have worked in nursing homes as well as worked in private home care. I have extensive experience in caring for people with dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. I have cared for younger adults who have special needs, but my main experience is in caring for the elderly. My philosophy is to treat the people under my care the same way I would want a loved one to be treated. I believe it is always possible to maintain dignity regardless of the help needed. I see people, not diagnoses. I am very intelligent and friendly and have an excellent sense of humor, which is so important in this kind of work! I am most interested in live-in home care for one family. I believe that continuity of care is extremely important for establishing trust. I find that it can be confusing and distressing for you or your loved one when there is a revolving door of caregivers. Also, I find that the loved ones of the person receiving care rest much easier when they have one point of contact. I would expect that there would be some respite hours on my behalf to avoid caregiver burnout; however, I would still be available if a respite worker couldn't come for his or her shift.
