I atook care of my parents for ten years ad enjoied it very much. I did the things that needed to be done for their care from shaving dad, helping him get a bath ,taking care of his dentures,getting him dressed and taking to doctor appointments. Dad passed on 9/27/05 and I promised him I would take care of my mom. Mom was in pretty good health when dad passed but need me to be with her due to her being a little unstable on her feet and several attacks of vertigo. As things progressed I started haveing to do more and more for her everything from cooking to laundry. I also help with her persoanl needs such as helpin her bathe,get dressed and trasport to appointments etc. To me Caregiving is very rewarding because you are helping people stay active and involved. I love seniors and enjoy being around them listening to their stories and letting them know someone cares. I attened CPCC in the late 90's to become a Substace Abuse Counselor to help people with addictions. I myself am in recovery and have 16 years sober. This has given me a real empathy for people who are alone and need someone to care. I am a 60 yo male who loves to garden, I have 5 dogs and loves classical and bigband/crooner music. Honesty and dependability are two of my best qualites. I love life and people.
