My care giving clientele began when my mother (Myrtle Chalos) was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I returned home and did housework basics. I was also in charge of the shopping and general maintenance of the home. In my working for Pip Printing early in my career the owner (Alfred Wallwork) was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Along with my daily work duties I would help him entering and exiting his car, following him to swim therapy and return and later to repeat the process. This was twice and a day five days a week. I would also follow him to his home and help with his personal needs before returning to work. He eventually sold the business and has since passed. In January of 2010 my sister (Phyllis Scarbro) was also diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The first three months of her illness she was confined to home where I would spend Friday thru Monday doing general care giving, household chores and errands. I dispensed her medications which included both oral prescriptions and medication which was ingested though an electronic inhaler. She eventually entered Hospice Care where I would spend twenty four hour days no less than five days each week. In November 2011 my brother (Chris Chalos) was diagnosed with lung cancer. I accompanied he and his wife (Kay) for doctor’s appointments.
