I took the decision to become a caregiver after a certain amount of events that happened in my life,I was raised by my grandmother I knew she always wanted me to have a good job, she didn't want me to end up working on a farm like the rest of my family, sadly I was very young and made some bad decisions and eventually dropped out of school and became a young mother at a very young age. When I was very young at the age of 17 my baby son would suffer from febrile seizures so I had to learn how to keep calm during rough times to be able to give my son the proper care that he needed at the time that it was needed, The next event in my life was having my husbands grandparents living with us, I became one of their many caregivers til their last days, I experienced them in hospice at a family members house and I was able to help take care of them in their last days. Then in 2011 I lost my mother to a brain tumor, during the same time I suffered a miscarriage it was a horrible time in my life. I never thought that I would lose her to something I knew nothing about and let along lose a baby we really longed for. I knew I had not made her proud as I should have so I went back to school and got my GED, then I enrolled in school to become an RN. I have to admit that in the beginning I was only going to school because I thought I had to prove that I had not wasted my life.
