I became a caregiver because, my Grandmother was diagnosed with EndStage COPD about 2 yrs ago. So when she started have problems breathing and walking and using the restroom and could no longer take a shower or bath on her own anymore. Also just daily things that we take for granted like, driving and going to the grocery store or to get her medicines. Or not able to cook for herself. Also not getting enough oxygen to the brain. So i decided that i was going to stand by her, and give her the care and love with what time she had left. So that's what I did. After she passed away , i wanted to help others t hat wanted to stay home and need help. I liked the fact that everyday i could make her laugh and encourage her that is not a burden to anyone. Just to make her last months happy and loved. I don't know if this would be considered a personal achievement , but in the last 3 days of her life, i had promised to stay by her side the whole time never leaving her side. So i did that and talked to her, held her hand , told her to save a place for me I'll be there soon. Told her loved her and don't be afraid. So I talked with her and held her hand until she passed away. That was the hardest thing i have ever done, but i did it for her liked i promised her. I am caring and honest, and compassionate person. ... more
