The main reason I became a CNA to help my grandmother. Being raised by my grandmother, I want to do anything I could to help her as she has done for me until her passing. Since her death in 1977, I use my skills and experience helping other seniors. What I enjoy most about caring for seniors is knowing I have made a different in their lives. When I provide care to my clients, I'm providing care to myself, a very good friend, my grandmother, my mother, my grand father, because my clients are a part of my family. My greatest achievement in caring for my clients is when I can give them something that the doctor or medication cannot give and that's a sense that life doesn't have to be over. For example I have bought home clients from the hospital who was given two weeks to live, after caring for them they out live the two weeks by months and one lived almost a year longer than what the doctor had given. She was able to travel twice to her home state (from California to Ohio), driving herself to church, going out to lunch and dinner with friends. Those were the things she enjoyed doing before she became ill. Something about me, I received my C N A in high school (1976), I have three children two boys and one girl (decease). I also attended two colleges Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA and Columbia MO online course. My major is Human Services. I'm currently working for a Home Care Agency who only take care of veterans.

I am a genuinely sincere person who enjoys helping others. I work hard and listen carefully. I am reliable and have a firm understanding of how important reliability is to those expecting you to be there when you say and do what you say. I have worked as a Social Worker in health care for many years and have the ability to assess a home environment and see where the needs are to assist adequately and make helpful recommendations to promote independence. My husband has his own business and I help to manage that business but miss being able to work with others. I think it is fulfilling when you have the ability to assist someone and make their day just a little easier. I enjoy seeing the transformation on an individuals face when you arrive to help with their needs and they seem worn out and discouraged but after you have helped them, listened to what they had to say, and validated them by doing things their way then you see them energized and smiling. That is the most rewarding feeling. I have several personal achievements that I am proud of I went to college and have a Bachelor's degree and did that while raising children, I have helped my granddaughter achieve her goals to go to college and become a nurse, and I have had a successful happy marriage for 31 years now.
