Hello, My name is Shannon Darcy, and I'm a teacher, mother of two, and proud grandmother with a deep passion for caring for others. I also have personal experience as a caregiver for my in-law who is living with dementia, which has strengthened my patience, empathy, and understanding of the unique needs that come with memory care. I believe my compassionate nature, reliability, and calm demeanor make me an excellent caregiver. Through my roles as a teacher, mother, and grandmother, I've learned how to communicate with kindness, stay organized, and provide consistent, nurturing support. I was drawn to caregiving because I truly enjoy helping others live with comfort, dignity, and joy. What I love most about being a caregiver is the connection I build with those I assist and the fulfillment that comes from knowing I'm making a positive difference in their daily lives. One personal achievement I'm proud of is balancing my teaching career while raising my children and supporting my family through caregiving. These experiences have shaped me into a compassionate, dependable, and understanding person--qualities I bring to every family I work with. During the school year, I am available weekday mornings (6:00-7:45 a.m.), as well as Saturday and Sunday evenings (5:00-11:00 p.m.). I also have greater availability during school holidays and more daytime flexibility from May 24th through early August when the school year ends. Additionally, I am open to providing overnight care on a limited basis if needed. I can assist with basic household chores, meal preparation, dressing, hygiene, and other daily tasks, and I prefer to work in a nonsmoking environment. While I prefer households without cats, this is not a deal breaker--I'm happy to discuss what works best for your family's needs.
