About Jessica

I became a caregiver because of having a sick grandmother and mother. Being a caregiver is something that is very personal. Just letting someone know that they can depend on you and trust in the fact their is someone you can count on for help. I am a proud mother of two beautiful little girls, who are healthy and happy. As I had said before, I started being a caregiver because of my grandmother and mother. I was 18 when my grandmother had her right leg taken because of being a diabeitc. She later had six more surgeries due to infection in her remaining limb. I was very much dedicated to making her comfortable. Just this summer my Mother was hospitalized for liver and kidney failure. After being taken off life support she remained in the hospital for thirty two days before coming home on hospice. There was no thought about putting in a nursing home due the fact she had too many needs. So she remained in my while under hospice care until she passed away June 17, 2014. Which is sad, but in my heart I knew she truly had a chance to enjoy her remaining time with us. She was at home surrounded by family. So being a caregiver is about being a patient and caring person. The understanding that your time is needed by someone who is not use to little independence. Being a caregiver in not something you are taught in school, its something that is your heart.
