About Sherry

I am a great caregiver because I'm a very outgoing person and compassionate with a big heart for the elderly for they hold special place in my heart. I actually was a Nanny for 5yrs and when she started school I wasn't needed, but the family set me up as a caregiver with a friend of the family. She was 94 yrs and was a sweetheart with spunk. That's how I began my caregiving career. I enjoy taking care of people I'm a very nurturing person. It comes natural for me. I've learned a lot about myself doing this job. I learned that I need to be thankful every day for my good health. I've learned how to take care of catheters, feeding tubes, suction machines, colostomy patients, paralyzed patients, stroke patients. I took care of my Mom who had COPD until she passed and I worked night shift with another patient while doing that. Then When that patient passed away I started with another. Then I finally ended up having to take care of my Dad which I'm so fortunate I could. Now that he has passed I'm ready to start back caregiving for others. This experience allowed me to care for my parents who I loved with all my heart and so thankful that I could.

I took care of a male about 70yrs old due to a stroke it left him partially paralyzed, with a catheter and a feeding tube. I took care of his personal hygiene, medication, feeding tube, catheter and doctor appts , along with light housekeeping. His wife has Parkinson’s so I assisted her when needed. I stayed with that family until he passed away. All of my clients . I do not like switching from patient to patient I am a very loyal person and I stay employed until they pass away. This may sound strange but I consider it a privilege to be a part of their life and I love this type of work.

Greetings! I am Mary Van Gorp, I am fun loving, energetic, compassionate, caring person who is a believer in a compassionate savior. I have been a caregiver with 6 + years experience with a dear lady that had Alzheimers. I loved caring for her in her daughters home. Where I was able to minister to her. Take her for rides and walks two to three times per day. I prepared breakfast and lunch for Kathleen. Helped bath her and get her dressed for the day. I was able to give Kathleen all my attention, and all the attention she deserved because she was in her daughters home. I became part of the family. Once a month I would stay for 4 days & nights so the family could have a break. By caregiving Kathleen in her daughters home I was able to practice my Nutritional Health coaching skills. Like giving Kathleen her medication. I also added supplements she was missing. I also improved her diet and fluid intake which stoped the UTI's which was an ongoing problem when I started taking care of her. All this was documented on a time chart that was filled out daily. Giving feed back to daughter on her mothers health and behavior through the day. Toward the end I transitioned to hospice care of Kathleen before I had to leave her care because we moved from the area. I moved from Kansas to Jacksonville 18 months ago. I loved caring for Kathleen and helping her connect with her past. She loved to dance so I would play the big band music and we would dance around the house. It kept her moving and I tried to keep her mind engaged. My goal was to make her last days as pleasant for her and her family as possible while she was in my care. My goal in caregiving is to give my next family pleasant and personal care.

Hello! I am an energetic caregiver with a passion for caring for seniors. Since I was in High School, I knew I wanted to devote my life to caring for seniors. I absolutely love how having a meaningful converstaion with someone can turn their entire day around. For the last several years I have worked as an Activity Coordinator in the Memory Care department of a senior living community. This job made me fall in love with this vulnerable population. It takes a very special personality to care for these individuals and I want to share my skills and passion by enriching the lives of others. I have previously worked as a personal trainer and feel comfortable assisting in exercises given from physical therapists. I am currently employed part time as a fitness instructor for a local senior center. I am currently in school for Health Systems Management and looking for flexibile opportunities to maintain my caregiving skills. I am looking for afternoon opportunities but can be available occasional weekends if planned in advance.
