I have personal experience in working with persons with disabilities as I had a son with disabilities that I took care of up until his passing in 2000. He was 12 and a half years old. After my son's passing I desired to continue helping persons with disabilities and health conditions. In 2003 I became a Habilitation Technician and worked hands on with individuals one on one, in day program settings, group home settings and within the community. I worked my way up to Case Manager from 2005 until May 2011 at which point I stepped away from work to care for my mother who eventually passed away from Breast Cancer. I am a nurturer by nature and this attracted me into the caregiver role. I enjoy seeing people smile and bringing a sense of peace and happiness into their lives. I have several personal achievements that I am proud of: #1 Is being a mother, #2 I have a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling thus I have a history in working with persons with Mental Health Issues. #3 Because of my desires to help other's I recently completed and passed my CNA class and exams with the intention to become a RN.
