About Amy

I am a hard working healthcare provider that is always striving to go above and beyond the standard of care. I am friendly and able to develop a good report with patients and their family members quickly. I enjoy listening to my patient's concerns and discussing my patient's health care needs. I have even been able to learn new things from my patients when they had a diagnosis I was unfamiliar with. I became a nurse because I knew at the age of three that I wanted to help people. I have always been fascinated by medicine. I enjoy watching my patients recover and get better. It brings me pleasure to know that I am able to help someone in anyway. Sometimes that means comforting someone other times it means helping them heal physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have a wide range of experience. I have worked with postpartum moms and newborns all the way through geriatrics and end of life. I have worked in mental health, rehab/recovery, neurological, and cardiac units as well. I got my first responders when I was 15 and was the youngest person in my class to graduate from nursing school. That puts me at 22 years of experience in the medical field.

Charge nurse leadership role on the adult care unit. I also floated to the geriatric unit, adolescent unit, youth boys and youth girls units, bridge unit, and rehab unit. I learned and was certified in crisis prevention intervention. Which included how to de-escalate patients. The patients here had a wide variety of diagnoses. Some of the most common included: anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, and chemical dependance. Many patients had thoughts of self harm or harming others, and suicide attempts. On the geriatric unit we also managed patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. Some of my specific nursing roles included medication administration, patient education, processing (talking) with patients, staff checking on every patient every 15 minutes (or sooner if the patient was on suicide precautions or withdrawing from drugs or alcohol), monitoring vitals and labs, reporting concerns to appropriate doctor, therapist, or supervisor.
