I become a care giver 17 years ago because I needed a job to support my family ,however as the years went by I realized that I'm making a difference in someone else's life . Often times I would go to work and I'm am the only person my patient would see for the day or sometimes for weeks. so I'm the one they are depending on to start their day. Sometimes they believe they don't have a purpose and want to die ,so I would encourage them and let them know that they do have a purpose,sometimes by a simple joke to let them smile, giving a bath, and a nice meal, yes a nice meal does it every time. One of the nicest thing I have ever done was taking my patient out to breakfast with my own money. He was very happy. I am loving, caring, honest, reliable and compassionate.
