i became a caregiver because i helped with my grandmother and i saw how important it is to have good care for the elderly.I like the feeling of helping and making people happy.I mesh well with most clients and form a strong bond.I've been a caregiver for 14 years and it feels like this is what I'm good at and am meant to be doing.

I am a people person and easily to get along with I love hanging out with my elderly clients and learning about life from them . My great grandmother was my inspiration to become a caregiver starting with her and other elderly family members and friends . My experience is both personal and professional. I have a Masters in Healthcare Administration, I was a Quality Director for a rural clinic, a first responder at a local Volunteer Fire Department, and I cared for my Mother and Brother with neurological disorders for more than six years. For me creating a safe and engaging environment was crucial to improve their respective living environments. Additionally, knowing the healthcare system, and being an advocate for their healthcare needs was critical to minimize confusion and improve their overall care. As a versed mechanic and handyman, I made their living environments safe with hold bars and special care devices, minimizing fall hazards. Additionally, traveling out of the house is essential in maintaining a level of freedom from confinement, and we would go out regularly to do errands, go to DR. appointments and do external activities. Cooking was a favorite for both, as I would cook their favorites usually in large quantities, so they had packaged meals that they could pop in the microwave. As I approach my early 60s, I have been very fortunate and desire to continue helping and caring for others. Helping to organize and manage small elements can make the difference in just getting along or feeling like a valued member of society.

I have been doing in home senior care for 2+ years. With a local company. I care for my Mother on all post-op situations. I also give her support care weekly. I have just completed the AR CNA course testing out at: 100%+5 written, and 99% clinical. I will test with the state soon. I am out going.l, Self- motivated, and am a stickler for the rules and proceedires. I am most proud of my ability to connect with and advocate for residents/clients.

I became a caregiver to my sister in Los Angeles, CA, who had cancer in 2015. After she passed away, I knew that this was my calling. I was told by the staff at Cedar Saini that they appreciated my help while I was there looking after my sister. The staff acknowledged my patience and compassion towards other patients also.
