I believe what makes me a great caregiver is that I take care of all my patients as if they were my own family and make sure they are comfortable and most importantly I listen to their needs. I became a caregiver in August 2009 for my father, Brian. After a series of tests my father was diagnosed with early - stage of cancer. I have always taken care of my father because my mother was never around to provide support to the family. His condition is still in the early stages, but I am worried about the future. This situation brought my father and I closer. His condition has made me realize that this is career move that I wanted to peruse. I am not a caregiver by career but by choice. I am a caregiver that truly cares about helping others and want to make a difference in the lives of seniors and their families. I became a CNA/HHA at age 17.I have always wanted to work in the medical field to help others.I have worked in several facilities as a caregiver working my way to become a med.tech,supervisor and cottage manager.I have worked for a number of families as well.Most recently, i cared for my mother for a period of 5 years+, untill her death at age 95 on 11/11/15.
