About Rena

Ever since I was a child I knew three things for sure. First I wanted to become a nurse, secondly a wife and last but not least a mother. I am definitely one of the lucky ones, who has been able to live my dream. I have worked in labor and delivery, NICU and hospice in hospitals at various points. I did stay home for quite a few years to raise my amazing 2 sons. About the time I was ready to get back into the workforce, life happens. I was diagnosed with cancer, and went through a divorce. These things only helped to give me the little push I needed to jump right back in head first. I can not put an exact pin on exactly why I enjoy at home nurse care, but it totally fulfills me. My patients are amazing, become family and give me so much joy. I enjoy helping them to enjoy life, all while allowing them to keep their dignity and not feel totally dependent on me. I am extremely reliable, and trustworthy. I can provide references as needed, and still I'm contact with most of my patients families. (One of my hospice patients daughter, myself and other aides still meet for dinner once a year). I do become emotionally attached, and make no excuses for it. I treat them as family, as how I would want someone to treat my parents. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions for me. Looking forward to speaking with you! ** Within the last 12 months I have had a background check as well as FBI fingerprints done when helping as a fill in school nurse at my youngest son's school.

Maria Georgeopolous
Maria is a fun spunky woman. When I was asked to join her "team" her needs were increasing. Two out of 4 aides were not comfortable with anything medical, but more companionship. While Maria still needs assistance with cooking, light cleaning, grocery store trips, etc... her medical needs are quickly becoming more important. Maria had surgery about 3.5 years ago to have a tracheotomy put in. She has CHF, lymphedema, low lung function, and severe restless leg syndrome. I currently work about 4 nights a week from 11pm until 5am.

Beverly Conrad
When I began assisting Phyllis, the care was more companionship and less medical. Over the following months, care was adjusted as her needs changed. Everything from bathing, bathroom help, cooking, light cleaning, dr appts and light exercise. The final few months we were doing hospice home care. That would include helping her with anything and everything physical she needed. I would make sure she was comfortable with morphine. Worked very close with her family and doctors until Phyllis was ready to cross over.

HHC/CNA/Palliative care

Edith Zammarchi
Edith was wheelchair bound and had dementia. Her only son at the time was living a few states away. I did housework, cooking, driving to appts, updating doctors and son . Over time Edith required oxygen 24/7, and ended up with a tracheotomy. Suctioning was then added to my responsibility. Edith was deteriorating rather quickly. She was a DNR. In December of 2014, her son and his partner flew out and decided that financially it would make more sense to put Edith into a home. 3 weeks later she was admitted into a home and 4 weeks 3 days later, Edith peacefully passed away.

I believe there is a time in life we all need to be cared for and why not do so for others and treat them just how I would like to be treated. I became a caregiver becauseI believe that everyone one should have someone to rely on.
