I became a personal care attendant because of my brother. He was born normal and went in for a routine tonsillectomy when he was 6 years old and they overdosed him with anesthesia and didnt resesitate him in time so he became brain injured. He was in a wheel chair and couldnt walk or talk and needed complete care 24 hours 7 days a week. So I helped take care of him my whole life and started actually working shifts with him when I was 14 and I loved every minute of it. I learned everything I needed to take care of him and I just love helping people. I have had 2 other pca jobs where I worked in home and one was an older man and the othe a man who was disabled from the waist down and could do his upper body things himself. So I have learned an array of different abilities and skills such as R.O.M. message, all the therapy's from physical to water to music and occupational therapy. I know the ADL's and much more. I'm happy to have had the experiance and knowledge around me while I was growing up and was able to nurture it and turn it into something I love!
