About Shannon

Forty-eight year old college educated, married mother of two with a strong work ethic. I am detail oriented, organized, and have and high standard for cleanliness. Professionally, I have always worked with intellectually disabled individuals and children. I consider myself to be patient and nuturing. I have worked with family members who have had a variety of health issues i.e. diabetes, emphysema, COPD, and hearing impairments. My mother had a double lung transplant and I assisted in her health care. I was the POA and social security representative payee for my uncle who had mental health and physical health issues. I would not necessarily consider this a personal achievement that I am proud of rather, thankful that I did it. I pursued adoption. At the time my daughter was 8 yrs old. I had to foster her for 6 months and then was able to adopt her. I was single at the time. Our daughter is now 18, in college in NY. I am interested in being a caregiver as in one way shape or form I have always done that at various levels. I enjoy interacting with people and desire to help people who are in need of assistance whether it be meal preparation and companionship or more involved with personal ADL's, i.e. bathing etc. Helping a person remain in their home as opposed to residing in a nursing facility is something that I want to be involved in.
