Hello, my name is Charlene and I have been a caregiver since a child. My mother took in foster children with special needs when I was 11 yrs old. It was something I didn't give a lot of thought to all I saw at an early age was a person in need of care but most of all LOVE. I had the opportunity to share my home and teach the simplest things to someone who just needed a person to take that little time with them. I enjoy being a caregiver just to see the smiles and gratitude of someone who appreciate or who just can't do simple things f or themselves...It really warms my heart knowing I made a difference. I have completed the following courses and have certifications : Oral Health Instructions, Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Medications and Preventing Abuse & Neglect, Basic Life Support, CPR/AED and Automated External Defibrillators

Yes...I am still working for the Carey family. I am responsible for total care of my client, he is paralyzed. I do the cooking of his breakfast and lunch meals. I also feed him and make sure he takes his vitamins and timed medications. I also make sure he has continuous fluides. I do monitor and empty his pubic catheter. I bath him and change the bedding if he has a bowel movement. I go with him to his doctor and dentist appointments. 3 days out of the week I transfer him from the bed to a lounge chair with the use of hoyer lift do he can sit up. He sits up approximately 2hours then I transfer him back to the bed with the hoyer lift.

I assit the residents with their daily care which includes all aspects of their hygiene, dressing, feeding, taking medications and making sure they are taking them at the prescribed times and toileting.
