I became a caregiver through way of an aunt. She had a live in case for many years and she would bring me over some weekends to keep her and "Mrs Swartz"company. Mrs Swartz was so sweet,u wanted to take care of her.she was so thankful for everything you'd do for her. As I had gotten older,and mastered their routine my aunt and Ms Swartz would allow me to take my aunts place if she needed to be off for the day. It came naturally to me. I've always liked helping people.I feel its my calling.

As a Cna I helpedhelped residents in both the dementia care and assisted living units.helped with meals and adl's. With meals and activities provided by the cna's also. As a medication aide ,I'd administer medication to residents who were on the med care program. Vitals and light wound care also provided by me. Administration of insulin and nebulizar breathing treatment also provided.assessment of new residents entering the home as well as communication between hospitals and doctors if residents needed emergency care.as lead care manager,Cna I communicated with drs,family and nurses about the care and changes of each resident in my unit as well as being directly responsible for a team of 5-6 cnas.scheduling and hours allotted for each aide reported all changes and findings to charge nurse or DON and /or in care plan books designed for each resident and in M.A.R. books ... more
