April of 2012 my mother passed and my father with Alzheimer's came to live with me. I cared for all his personal needs, bathing, doctors, physical and speech therapy. My background and education is in the legal field which helped with organizing my father's medications and multiple appointments. Through the years I learned that people with Alzheimer's Dementia need special care. My father could not express himself verbally, so I had to learn the signs when he was ill. Learn how to sooth and distract when he became agitated. The last two years of his life we had to place him in a home, I was there almost daily, working closely with the care givers, ensuring the best care. I know first hand the strain care giving can place on a family and feel that I am qualified to help come along side to help care for your loved one. Since my father's passing I've had the wonderful opportunity to care for several people at our church when their spouses were in the hospital. I feel honored to be allowed into someone's home and care for them in such a personal manner. [References upon request]
