When I turned 60 I decided to leave the corporate world (I was a graphic designer) and start something different by helping people on a more permanent basis. I have volunteered and have always wanted to help people. I have also been a boy scout leader and organized donations. I have worked steady for the last 7 years as an aide for various agencies on Long Island, NY. I have training in TBI as well as HHA and have had clients with Dementia, Down Syndrome and Parkinson's. I have my own transportation, can cook, laundry and have a lot of patience. Being available for either the agency or patient and not getting stressed even if sometimes they are are achievements enough. I deal with both the healthcare agencies and family members and have assisted the patients to the doctors office as well as tabulating and updating their medication. I am familiar with nursing homes, feeding schedule and activities as well as assisting in their movements and range of motion exercises. I constantly are updating my skills with the agencies and are certified as an HHA and TBI aide I can work different shifts and live on the North Shore. And, by the way I am male. 1. I became a caregiver due to my passion to help the seniors who are vulnerable and it is also where my skills in medical field can be applied. 2. The things that I like as a caregiver are: it hives me joy, it is also a very good livelihood, it can also develop very good relationship between patient and me. 3. The personal achievement that I can be proud of is, this job provides a chance for me to exercise my skills in dealing with patients who suffer different kinds of health problems aside from old age. 4. I am a teacher bh profession and I have 10 yrs experience as a biology teacher in my country then became an early childhood teacher/administrative assistant at Queens, NY from 2000 to 2011. I have delivered my professional skills as a teacher and administrative assistant in a professional way, with due honor, respect to co-workers, parents, students and my superiors. I aldo started my course in nursing at QCC-CUNY. I am a hardworker who trully do my duty diligently with care, trust snd respect. I have been a caregiver since 2011.
