My 83 year old mother was 100% mentally fit. She could not drive herself any more and her physical strength was gone. I became her sole caregiver. I love giving her the care she needs. She is as sharp as a tack, but can't physically support herself. I learned how to correctly transfer, bathe, clothe and generally take care of her. I do all of the cooking on her diabetic, low sodium diet and she loves the flavors I am able to "pull out" of foods she enjoys. I am proud to have put myself through school, owned my own business, raised 6 children and put them through college. I have been blessed to have been able to provide care for my grandson that requires special needs due to Autism. I love working with the elder community. I have worked in the field of Long Term Care & Pharmacy for 20 years. I could sit and listen for hours to stories about my client's experiences and adventures. I have found they get a genuine joy from telling a story, or just having the attention of having a meal prepared for them or a quick game of cards. I had clients that waited on the door step for my arrival to help them change their sheets. They didn't want someone to do it for them, just to help them do it themselves. I enjoy helping others. There is a true joy I experience when I help someone else.
