my name is sherri Barfield and I have been in the human service field for total of 28 years. I am very patient calm but like to laugh and make people laugh. I am very kind and compassionate about the care of those who cant care for themselves as well as encourage the individual to function at their optimum and be the best they can be. no two people are alike and so i like to take the time to find out what works best for the individual and helping to live their fullest life possible. I got into the field of taking care of others as my first job as home health aide and later on many years later had to care for my daughter who had severe special needs who i swore would never fall through the cracks. today she is living on her own and doing excellent. on another personal note I took care of my mother who had a heart attack and stroke and nursed her back to health and she is doing well not living back home i was a special ed teachers assistant in riverdale for preschoolers. and my last job I was a senior case manager for 15 years. I think my love for the human service field comes naturally as I love helping and caring for others. my two best personal achievements I am very proud of is seeing my mother and daughter with the help of my care being able to live on their own and doing extremely well.

I became a caregiver to provide warmth and comfort the the elderly and disabled. I like making the client feel secure and know that they can trust me. I give 110% to everything I do. When they see a familiar face everyday it makes them feel good and their willingness becomes better as the days go by. Their faces light up and they talk to you about anything that's on their mind. Even if they say the same things over and over again, it gives them great pleasure that you are willing to listen. Seeing the happiness on their face is the best achievement that I could ever give. Knowing that they are happy and content. I have been doing this so long, it doesn't feel like a job more like accomplishment. Helping people who can't help themselves.
