I was raised by a grandmother who was a Midwife and she raised my dad and his brothers who are all doctors. Having been in a medical family encouraged me to enter the field. I loved and cared for my grandmother until her death and as such have found that what gives me the most satisfaction is caring for the elderly. I do home care part time for short periods along with my full time job. I am ready to take on home care on a full time basis since I feel it is the area that I can add the most value to in healthcare. I treat my patients as though they were my family, I have found that gentle, caring, understanding and patient techniques work the best for the elderly while being careful to not patronize them. I keep in mind that at some point in their lives they were strong and able to make sound decisions, care for themselves and handle their affairs properly. I ensure that their dignity remains intact. Transparency and honesty in my dealings is imperative with my employers and I expect the same from them.
