I have been a caregiver for eleven years. I started out in childcare but always loved the stories of my friend who was a caregiver and talked about the relationships she developed with her clients. I became a caregiver when I was hired by a very sweet MS patient who wanted to train someone to provide customized care for herself. She was happy that I had no experience and she taught me well. I was with her for four years. I have since been a caregiver to more than seven clients with multiple conditions from Alzheimer's to pulmonary disease. What I like most about my work is simply that I can provide that happy peaceful, cheerful environment they enjoy and which essentially makes their lives so much better. I adapt very well, am organized and very easy going. I am keen and do try to become a team with other caregivers, doctors, nurses, therapists or social workers as well as family members who are all working to provide the best care for the client.
