My qualities are being attentiveness, dependable and trustworthy. I learned these qualities over the year while working with children. What attracted me to being a caregiver was my clinical experience in nursing school. I worked with older adults and loved all the knowledge I gained sitting there and talking to them. I enjoyed being my patients' caregiver because the smile on their face every time I came in made my day run smoothly. I was able to interact with my patients one on one, give them their morning and afternoon medications and assist with their baths. As I mentioned, I enjoyed the talks, I feel as though they do not always have a companion to talk to but I enjoyed listening to their stories. My grandparents lived in Nigeria and I never had that grandparent experience. I learned a lot working with them. Learning how to take blood pressure from older adult was an achievement I am proud of because it was very frustrating at first. Older adults sometimes have faint pulses and it is very difficult to hear it. I would have to try more than once to get an accurate result. As I kept practicing daily, I got the hang of it.
