Hi! My name is Alicia DeSilva, I live in a small town called Franklin. I am a very bubbly and social individual who is always looking for a new challenge. At age 10 I was taking care of my little sister full time as my mother worked the night shift and my father left very early mornings. It was my parents that taught me how truly appreciative people are of devoting your time and energy to helping others. By age 13 I spent two months with my grandmother in Rochester where she worked with individuals who suffered from mental disabilities. My grandmother taught me that a little patience and a lot of compassion and understanding goes a long way. Caregiving gives me a sense of self fulfillment, instead of waiting for everyone else to start giving, I love to take initiative and devote myself to giving. I think that the appreciation and the smile that people wear on their faces when you've helped them are the most gratifying things that you will come across in life.
