About Diane

Hello, I am a Mom of 2 daughters who are on their own now. I had taken care of my Mother who ultimately became bed bound and my Dad who was a tiger to the end an had been in a wheelchair the last 5 years, but was very self-sufficient and loved to go on outings. I believe that isolation is not the answer and if possible get out of the house to people watch and have a coffee or ice cream as diet and meditation permits. I enjoy listening to elders stories and their life as it brings them joy to retell what made them happy. I am well versed of safety and mobility concerns and trained to assist with car/bed/ toilet transfers. Both parents were in wheel chairs since 2010. Sadly my Dad passed last year and I certainly miss him. I also know elders can be a bit grumpy and inappropriately outspoken. I understand that to a point, but will try to redirect. I am a good cook and look forward to providing meals that they enjoy. Bring to doctors appointments, supermarkets (but limit that due to COVID concerns) we can play cards, scrabble, do puzzles. I like arts and crafts and maybe learn knitting. Books, library has SO many large print or books on tape. Music is also very helpful and important to integrate. Making sure their home is safe, clean and fresh and tidy. I enjoy laundry and clean sheets. Pet and their care and that is wonderful therapy and important for seniors living alone, but understand pet car is difficult. I am not a CNA, so hopefully my assignments are self sufficient for toileting, but understand accidents may occur. My role as caregiver is to keep the clients safe, happy, clean, comfortable and dignified and hopefully brighten their day with my visits and assistance. I am a non- smoking and cannot assist in a smokers home due to my allergies. Thank you

Making a difference in people's lives has been a passion of mine. My family owned a Nursing Home/Home for the Aged for 36 years. This is were my passion for taken care of people was instilled in me. I worked as a caregiver, cook and handled recreation programs for our residents. Throughout the years I worked for Connecticut Hospice, The Alzheimer's Resource Center, and as a Private Caregiver for children and adults. I had the honor of caring for my Dad and both my Grandmother who all had Alzheimer's. There are many types of Dementia. Training and knowledge is important to understanding the needs of your love ones and clients you care for. This past December I completed training courses for The National Caregiver Certification Program, Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia and 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's. These certification courses provided me with new ways to communicate with Dementia clients. I make sure the things that are most important to my client are done every shift. This is achieved by asking your priorities, then once they're completed if time allows I do my best to tackle the non-priorities. Compassionate, reliable, punctual, treating everyone with dignity and respect are values I live by.

I am a very reliable and friendly caregiver, I love to care for people young, old, disability, handicapped. It's doesn't become just a Job for me, but to see a smile on person face says it all for me. I enjoy caring for the elderly or people's needs because one day I might be in their shoe so I treat everyone how I would want to be treated, which is with respect, being honest, caring , trusting me to care for them. From my experience I've heard a lot of people tell me that I'm very patient and loving. I always look forward to seeing every client home I go to and they look forward to seeing me and that warm friendly smile I gave them
