Caregivers work with a great deal of independence. A great caregiver must be counted on to be where he or she is required to be on time and prepared as well as to perform required duties in the absence of continuous supervision. Growing up in a family of medical professionals I surely thought that one day I would become a nurse. After watching my aunt take care and aid the sick in her home, I knew I wanted to become more hands-on with patients. While still in high school, I became a Candy Striper for a local hospital, helping out with medical records and little jobs as needed around the hospital. Being surrounded on a daily basis by this kind of environment is what made me want to become a caregiver. Being a caregiver for 17 years has helped me in so many ways, I have worked in Hospitals, Nursing home Facilities, Private Duty, etc. I love what I do in helping each client I've ever worked with. Taking care of sick people that needs my help gives me joy in my heart and it let me know they need people to work with them that care.
