I became a caregiver after an experience i had with my maternal grandmother about ten years ago. I use to help my grandma ambulate after a home accident that weakened her left leg. I was supporting her on the left side to get around. Her left leg grew stronger after couple of months of care but when I had to go away for school for a semester there was no one to ambulate her and her frequent falls left her bed-ridden. I came back to assist my grandma with her personal care, bathe her, toileting, feeding, dressing her up,perform physical exercises with her as prescribed by her therapist and so on. Grandma got better until finally she was able to walk again after six months of being bed-ridden. As her maker will have it she went to be with the Lord at the time she was up on her two feet and could do thing s for herself. She died peacefully in her sleep. The joy in grandma's eyes whenever I helped her up was so fulfilling to me that I decided to help other's get better. I assist my clients ambulate, exercise per the therapist's prescriptions, launder, cook, light house keeping, handle incontinence etc. I am an experienced caregiver who loves to see people get well.
