I became a caregiver because one day as I was walking in Manhattan, I saw an elderly man was crossing the road, he needed help crossing because the traffic was too much for him to cross by himself so I took the opportunity in helping him to cross the road, it was then that I realized, I can take up this as a professional and that is when I became a HHA/caregiver. In 2008 .Being a caregiver is about having patience , something you can do for someone who is in need of assistance, its a blessing when caring for elderly. I am very responsible , flexible , reliable ,charming, hard working and a loving person. I am a honest worker, with a good sense a humor. With a good personality.I also work in hospital, nursing home, and the Bristol Assistant Living home. Some clients became my best friends ,even if I not working for some of them ,I still call up them to see if everything is alright with them . and they will love to hear my voice because the they were getting from me. I care for all kind of patients both Males / Females. Dementia, cancer patient, hospice, Alzheimer's, I love all my client to the moon and back, I assisted with Therapy, give Exercise daily. I provide manicure and pedicure, I love to dress and I love to dress my clients up and make them super beautiful like they are in they 21 yrs again..I am a good hygiene person and I like to keep my client in good hygiene and healthy. I provide all ADL, including light house keeping, reminds of meds, cooking arrands ,doctors appointments. etc. I like to play games. My mom was the first person that told me to become a Home Health Aide. She saw that I was a very caring, responsible and reliable person. When I first started working as an aide I realize that I really liked taken care of my patient. Right out the gate I realize this when my teacher took us to a nursing home to do our in service. I had the privilege to work with an elderly woman for eight hours. We talked all day about her family and I help her with her bath. The feeling that I had at the end of the day was so wonderful. I was so excited to start working with the elderly because I knew I could help them even if was just to talk with them I would be a good listener. Over the years I have come to realize that I am a very emotional caregiver because I get so attached to my patient . I love to get to know them and be as helpful as I can. So my name is Candis and I moved to New York in 2004. I was born in Guyana, South America. I am currently a mom and a wife. I love life and love taken care of my family and my patients.
