I'm a 38 year old first time mom to an amazing 2 year old. I've always been a caring, nurturing person who was stuck working in retail. Finally almost 6 years later I made that change and went into the home care field. I was finally in a field that I was passionate about and loved. My first case had cerebral palsy who was also a quadriplegic. I worked with her for 5 1/2 years. Unfortunately while I was on maternity leave her mom grew ill to where she could no longer cover my hours to where she had to hire someone. I then briefly started working with a loving elderly woman who has been diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia. Sadly, her husband has also been diagnosed with the same disease. I started working with this couple in January of 2017. This was temporary as they moved up to Albany with their son in August. Luckily, my original client had asked if I could come back, so it was perfect timing. I've been back with her for over a year. Unfortunately, as heartbreaking it is to put into words, she passed away recently. As hard as it was, I know she would want me to continue doing what I'm passionate about. I'm seeking to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday overnights. As I don't want to miss out on my daughter growing up. I'm hoping to find a new person to fit my criteria as I want to continue to work in the field that I love.
