Hi my name is Jennifer. I became a caregiver shortly after a tragic accident of mine happened, I was in an explosion and was lucky i made it out alive. Seen my experience from the caregivers at the hospital was so pleasant. They were always assisting me with my needs, even though at that time i felt hopeless and useless. The caregivers always knew what to say to perk me up. That being said me being in your loved ones shoes before, I know the exact feelings there having on a regular basis for i have been through the same in my past. I like being a caregiver because like those caregivers that helped me in my situation, I like to reach out my mind, body, and soul to my clients, with humorous jokes, my go get her personality, and making them feel useful and wanted. I also think its important to have mind and body stimulating activities. I always enjoy the warm-fuzzy feeling i get when my clients are happy and enjoying life. That feeling makes me proud of my job and makes my mind set even further that the healthcare profession is where i want to go career wise.

This client suffers from what started as early stage Alzheimer’s to now late stage Alzheimer’s. He slowly forgot his everyday routine and everyday mechanic skills such as using utensils, getting dressed, brushing teeth. ? Those skills that were one day second nature are now extremely more difficult for him. I help him with these skills and frustration he has with himself. ? I help the family by giving them guidance on how to handle their loved ones diminishing stages of his disease. ? I maintain a clean and safe environment for all my clients I take on.
