I enjoy listening to the stories of their lives, and appreciate their wisdom. Caregiving just goes along with my profession as a PTA, and working in acute care. It makes me happy to help someone when they can't be with their family, and just need to feel some comfort when they are unwell, or unable to take care of themselves. Our family has dealt with the need for caregivers for both grandmothers and for my brother, following a brain injury. It was very important for me to incorporate working towards independence, and facilitating a feeling of purpose, when I was with them. I have spent 15 years working privately as a caregiver.
