Being a caregiver/Stna is a very challenging job especially working as an hospice aide can become very stressful at times. I take pride in what I do I started out as a caregiver 6 years ago and I am now moving forward to become a nurse. When I first started it was very overwhelming, the first job I had as an Stna was at an assistant living facility and I grew such a great bond with residents there, I noticed how some people who were there were alone and all they had was us. I made sure I went above and beyond to help them and let them know I cared about them and was there for them even if no one else was. Being there I seen people pass away with no loved ones there to be with them. I was introduced to a hospice company that sits bedside 24hours with someone dying so they are never alone. I jumped right on board as soon as possible because I loved that idea. I have been with this company for over a year now and now moving forward to become a nurse I absolutely love what I do and I enjoy putting a smile on someone's face when they see me coming or after providing wonderful care. I have gotten to know so many different families over the years who have expressed nothing but good things about me and I love that I can make a difference not only to the patient but to their family also, knowing that their loved one is in good hands when i am with them.

Crossroads Hospice Care Inc

I am currently employed through Crossroads hospice and here my duties include making daily visits to patients at their home or facility. I provide showers and bed baths to patients who are unable to perform these daily tasks themselves. Also oral care, nail care, hair care and fixing meals and also feeding if they are unable to. I also assist with needs if the patient is mostly independent and when the time comes for end of life I jump in and help with sitting bedside and make sure the patient is comfortable during this time. Also giving emotional support to the family during this hard time.
