About Amy

Hello, My family, friends and co-workers know me as a caring, positive person who tries to find logical solutions to daily problems. I have always been a helper- whether it's assisting an elderly neighbor or taking care of neighborhood children. I like figuring out how to make a person's wish a reality- going for a country drive, cooking a favorite meal, making a craft or enjoying the arts. I find satisfaction in a job well done, and it's important to me to make sure I fully understand a client's physical and emotional needs. One thing I'm most proud of was being a caregiver to a client who ultimately passed away in 2007. He had been institutionalized and heavily medicated for most of his adult life before being placed in a group home situation. He was nonverbal and had cognitive and physical disabilities. I was proud to be on the team that helped him develop strategies for his PTSD, provided calming routines that reassured him, and figuring out his likes/dislikes and wishes. Ultimately he was able to travel to Disneyland and Hawaii, go camping, shop at his favorite stores, have clothing altered to accommodate his short stature and receive help in creating photo albums and keepsakes. Caregiving can be a difficult job, but I am grateful for the amazing people and experiences.

I am a naturally caring person, who was raised by my grandparents, so I love and understand the elderly. I love hearing the stories of the past. I love getting to know the families and people involved in their lives. People are important and every person has value and a story to tell! I helped to take care of my grandmother as she was aging and I look back on that time w fond memories. Helping others stay in their home. Making someones life just a little bit easier can have great rewards. I took religion is college, of which I have 3 yrs. I have raised two children, and have been involved in my church over the years. I am now helping to raise two of my grandchildren which I adore! I am faithful and loyal, kind and gentle to others. I am honest and trustworthy.I love gardening, my grandchildren, and nature and all animals, especially cats and horses. In my younger years I was a CNA for about 10 years. Then helped my husband in the restaurant business for quite a few years, then went into janitorial at Hood River High Sch for awhile. I now have an additional 7 yrs (?) in caring for others. I love people! Now that I am a little older, I am enjoying taking care of the elderly and have a good understanding for what they need. I have been doing so for a number (10?) of years. I am a pretty easy going person to wk with.

I became a caregiver at the age or 14 when my grandma fell ill and I was leaving with her, I've to give her care as there was no one to do it . She passed away after 3yrs. At the age 18 my mom got sick that she was bed bound . I again took up that responsibility to care for her until I came to the United States. I started as an NA till I get my CNA license in 2015. I have vast experience in caregiving. I've work for group and nursing homes. I am from West African, can speak and write English. Flexible , honest and a good listener who is ready to learn new things from my clients and coworkers, and always accommodate corrections. I always feel good working with my clients, I was an athlete, and I played international soccer for my country.
