About Dori

I became a caregiver because I am a friendly, caring, compassionate, and dedicated individual who enjoys working with and helping others, especially the elderly. It gives me satisfaction knowing I have made a difference in the lives of seniors by giving them quality care. Being able to help the elderly maintain their independence; thus allowing them to remain in the comfort in their own homes. is another way I can make a difference. That is what I like about being a caregiver. I also like spending time with seniors. I enjoy listening to them talk about their families, past experiences and accomplishments, or whatever is on their mind they need to share. They know I not only listen, but I care about them as well. Being a caregiver gives me the opportunity to establish and maintain a relationship with the person, or people in my care; this too is what I like about being a caregiver. I feel good about the fact that I was able to take care of and spend time with my elderly parents for the last five years of their lives. It was very difficult to do in many ways, so I consider it an achievement I am proud of. I like to walk for exercise, go for drives-especially in the country side, go to the coast, travel, and spend time with friends,

I am a naturally caring person, who was raised by my grandparents, so I love and understand the elderly. I love hearing the stories of the past. I love getting to know the families and people involved in their lives. People are important and every person has value and a story to tell! I helped to take care of my grandmother as she was aging and I look back on that time w fond memories. Helping others stay in their home. Making someones life just a little bit easier can have great rewards. I took religion is college, of which I have 3 yrs. I have raised two children, and have been involved in my church over the years. I am now helping to raise two of my grandchildren which I adore! I am faithful and loyal, kind and gentle to others. I am honest and trustworthy.I love gardening, my grandchildren, and nature and all animals, especially cats and horses. In my younger years I was a CNA for about 10 years. Then helped my husband in the restaurant business for quite a few years, then went into janitorial at Hood River High Sch for awhile. I now have an additional 7 yrs (?) in caring for others. I love people! Now that I am a little older, I am enjoying taking care of the elderly and have a good understanding for what they need. I have been doing so for a number (10?) of years. I am a pretty easy going person to wk with.

I love being a caregiver taking care of the individual that can and can't perform their daily activities, that's why I'm there to help.. I Iook on the bright side of things and try to bring joy to a persons life. I have taken care of a lady and her husband for 5 yrs. she had dementia, bipolar disorder and sun downer, I handled that situation with patients problem solving and trying to keep everyone happy. After her husband died I was their for support, companionship. I didn't hover over her - I gave her space but was near by to keep her safe.. I love learning new things about people. It's a great achievement to help out the family with their loved ones. I don't have a problem with taking the person on errands, Dr. appointments with my car or theirs. I like to take walks with the person I'm taking care of, wheelchair or walker. When I'm not care giving I like to read books, walk and go hiking..And catch up with friends.. My recent work has been taking care of a person that is bed ridden with MS and uses a hoyer.
